Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Windows Client Image Specialist to manage and customize Windows client images for various hardware use cases. This role is critical for maintaining system reliability, ensuring timely deployment of updates, and addressing security vulnerabilities. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with Plant IT staff, vendors, and suppliers while ensuring compliance with performance and security standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Customized Image Creation:
- Work with Plant IT staff to develop tailored images for specific hardware use cases (e.g., PWS, Rockwell).
- Include driver support for new hardware models as they are introduced.
Update Deployment:
- Deploy Microsoft OS and Office updates to Windows clients within 14 days of release.
- Test and deploy non-Microsoft security updates (e.g., Adobe) to impacted machines within 21 days of release.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to specific images, builds, or updates within 5 business days.
- Maintain and enhance the functionality of Windows images for optimal performance.
Utility Management:
- Create, maintain, and improve the OSD utility to allow customization for various images, image types, Windows versions, and regional configurations.
- Implement and test changes to the OSD utility within 7 days of requested modifications.
Collaboration and Onsite Support:
- Attend meetings with vendors, engineers, local Plant IT staff, and suppliers at CTC and Southeast Michigan plants.
- Provide onsite support for collaborative tasks as needed, approximately a few times per month.
Performance Expectations:
- Deliver customized images within 7 business days after requirements are identified.
- Update images for new hardware models within 7 days of model availability.
- Achieve 93% patch compliance for all targeted machines within 21 days of update release.
- Resolve specific image/build issues within 5 business days of identification.
- Ensure timely and verified deployment of OSD utility changes within 7 days of request.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with Windows client imaging and deployment processes.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft update processes, patch management, and security updates.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving image/build-specific issues.
- Familiarity with OSD utility creation and management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Availability to provide onsite support at Southeast Michigan locations as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in IT environments for manufacturing plants.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate are a plus
